How do points affect me?
Once a certain number of points accumulate on your license your driving privileges
will be
suspended or revoked. The table below shows the various consequences.
- 4 Points in 12 Months = Advisory Letter
- If you accumulate 4 points in 12 months, the Department of Revenue (DOR) will
send you a point accumulation advisory letter.
- 8 Points in 18 Months = Suspension
- If you accumulate a total of 8 or more points in 18 months the DOR will suspend
your driving privileges. The length of the suspension is shown below:
- 1st suspension - 30 days
- 2nd suspension - 60 days
- 3rd or subsequent suspension - 90 days
- One Year Revocation of Driving Privileges
- Your driving privileges will be revoked for one year if you accumulate:
- 12 or more points in 12 months
- 18 or more points in 24 months
- 24 or more points in 36 months
